One day, out of the blue, my grandson asks if I had read comics when I was a kid. I told him I was a comic connoisseur when I was a kid. Think early editions of THE MARVEL COMICS (Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Tales of Suspense) alas I would lend my comics out and they never came back to me. So when he asked me if I could find some Sonic the Hedgehog comics for him I turned to Amazon and lo and behold Amazon had them! Amazingly enough he read them!! Kudos again to Amazon.
If you were a fan of the Archie Adventure series of Sonic Comics, avoid this like the plague. While the art is well done, the story and characterization makes this feel more like a slap-dash game tie-in than a legitimate comic series. Given that the games themselves lack much of a cohesive back story outside of the plot of the individual entries, there is a distinct lack of quality material to base the new series off of, aside from Sonic Forces (a mediocre game at the best of times), which this series acts as a direct sequel to. Don't expect any of the characters you loved from the Archie Sonic comics universe, they are nowhere to be seen, and things are not better for it.
Since we dont have any more comics from archie I was a little sceptical about this one but oh boy I'm glad I got this!Story takes place after the events of "Sonic Forces"Lets be hones "Sonic Forces" (the game) felt like an incomplete and rushed project that can be finished in 3 hours or less... it felt Hollow somehow! And it seems the crew working on this comic are trying to fix just that.Anyways...Great story and beautiful art!!!
This reboot is a spiritual successor to the Archie comic but the continuity and non-Sega characters from the Archie comic are completely gone. No explanation is given for what happened to them. Considering that some people like myself had spent literally decades getting to know those characters, it's sad to see them get no send-off whatsoever. Sega should know better :-(
It's a very good graphic novel I do wish that the listing for this graphic novel told people that it's issues 1-4 of this series when the 2nd vol out in February tells us that it's issues 5-8 to make it easier to figure out what this is. But besides that from what I can gather it is a continuation of sonic forces which is cool I didn't like forces that much but I feel this tells a much better story, with amazing art direction using each character to their fullest for people that felt tails was let's say a bit of a wimp in forces I am happy to inform you that he is much more like what'd you would expect from his character. Overall a very good graphic novel I highly recommend it.
I was a fan of the old Sonic comic, and hesitant about this one. However, it is the same writer and the story and characters are great! Excited to read more.
Awesome comic, it looks great, feels great, and (this might seem weird) but smells great! The art is fun to look at the the paperback makes it feel sturdy like it will last a long time to come :)
My 10 year old son loves these books. He has a collection and they keep him reading. He will read them over and over again. That is a a win/ win for me.
